COMMUNITY NEWS
- ➤ St. Cloud State University will host a 90s party rock concert at the former Press Bar lot during Homecoming, with local band L.A. Gears performing on October 25 from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.—the event is set to end before the hockey game against Alaska Anchorage and kick off a downtown scavenger hunt on October 22 that awards hockey tickets and stuffed huskies while raising funds for future community events. - ➤ Red Robin’s restaurant at Crossroads Center in St. Cloud, which opened in 2016, will close on October 19 due to an expired lease that could not be renewed—leaving three other Minnesota locations still operating. WJON
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ High school students in Minnesota are preparing to submit their early college applications by November 1, and a WalletHub study ranked Carleton College in Northfield as the top school in the state for its low admission rate, strong student–faculty ratio, and diverse campus. Other institutions like Macalester and St. Olaf earned high marks for similar measures, adding more choices for students as they plan their futures. WJON
- ➤ Warren 'Boz' Bostrom, a respected business professor and former football player at CSB/SJU, died from liver failure after a period of illness. University officials and colleagues remember him for his support of athletics and academic work—he earned tenure in 2011 and was promoted to full professor in 2020. KNSI
- ➤ St. Cloud State University lost 517 students this fall while enrollment at Minnesota State colleges grew by over 4%—Southwest Minnesota State adding 728 students.
