- ➤ Today the Catholic Diocese of St. Cloud plans to tear down two historic homes near its Chancery Office in South St. Cloud to create a parking lot with room for 18 cars and a new green space. The diocese will ask the Heritage Preservation Commission for permission during its meeting today—part of its All Things New process to repurpose church properties. WJON
- ➤ Several organizations in St. Cloud are hosting a range of Halloween events this week, with Mall-O-Ween at the Crossroads Center Mall on Oct 31 featuring trick-or-treating, pumpkin painting and costume contests. A pet costume contest at Green Acres Animal Rescue on Oct 30, a trunk-or-treat at Sacred Heart Parish and a concert and costume party at Gnarly Bard Theatre on Nov 1—offer residents plenty of festive options. - ➤ Firefighters from IAFF Local 464 will be bagging groceries and chatting with customers at Coborn's Cooper Avenue on November 24th, 25th, and 26th from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. to raise funds for the Muscular Dystrophy Association during the Fill the Boot campaign—an event that has raised over $700 million since 1954—and will support the local effort for a good cause. - ➤ Claud creates attractive and practical pottery that makes great holiday gifts and was on display at Evelie Blu Boutique during a recent customer sale—she will host her Christmas Show at The Shop in St. Joseph on November 29th, December 6th, and December 13th from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. to offer unique pieces for holiday shoppers. - ➤ St. Cloud State University will hold a free Halloween event at Joe Faber Field on October 31 with a costume contest, trick-or-treating, pizza, and a fun game of Husky Banana Ball for children up to ten. The event will also offer opportunities to run the bases and get autographs from the Huskies—indoor plans will be set if the weather is poor. WJON
- ➤ This weekend, St. Cloud will host several Halloween events including a 21+ Monster’s Ball at Gnarly Bard Theater on November 1st with live music and a costume contest, a college dance party at Red Carpet on October 30th, and additional music and comedy shows at the Red Carpet and Keller Bar. - ➤ Sam's Club in Minnesota updated its store policies after overwhelming customer feedback—most clubs now open at 8 a.m. and close at 8 p.m. daily, offer free curbside pickup with no minimum purchase, and feature a flat $8 Express delivery fee for Plus members. WJON

- ➤ Gas prices in Minnesota and nationwide increased this past week—driven by a Midwest refinery fire and shifting U.S.-China trade talks. The national average rose by 2.5 cents per gallon while Minnesota recorded a 4.5 cent increase. WJON

- ➤ Stearns County Sheriff’s Office held a swearing-in and awards ceremony last week where Sheriff Steve Soyka honored officers and staff for lifesaving actions during emergencies, such as responding to a cardiac event at Triple R Bar and Grill and guiding CPR over the phone in a St. Cloud backyard. - ➤ Local lawn care expert Morgan Franzwa from Woods Farmer Seed and Nursery advises residents to clear fallen leaves now to prevent snow mold and recommends applying winter fertilizer once the ground is frozen—usually in early to mid-November.
