- ➤ Today, United Way of Central Minnesota launched United to Fill the SNAP Gap to provide emergency funding to local food shelves as federal delays in SNAP benefits raise hunger concerns. The funds will help food programs stay stocked and meet rising demand (emergency response). WJON
- ➤ Catholic Charities Food Shelf in St. Cloud started a Spice Drive to help local families enjoy more flavorful meals for the holiday season—donations of unopened dried herbs and spices are accepted at the St. Cloud Financial Credit Union branch at 3030 1st Street South until December 31. WJON
- ➤ Three pop-up grocery markets in central Minnesota will sell discounted meat and fresh produce packs to help families facing SNAP benefit challenges — the program uses a co-op bulk buying model that saves more when more people join. Markets are set for Resurrection Lutheran Church in St. Joseph on November 3, at Salem Lutheran Church in east St. Cloud on November 10, and at Atonement Lutheran Church on December 11. KNSI
- ➤ St. Cloud's Downtown Alliance said the Bold & Bright Winter Festival will run January 30 to February 1, 2026—showing pond hockey, a Mac & Cheese Crawl, a winter market, a toboggan relay, llamas, a comedy night, a night parade, and fireworks. Registration is open for the pond hockey game and parade—giving residents a fun way to support downtown. WJON
- ➤ Marlin Vos, a beloved local veteran and entrepreneur, passed away Oct 29 at Quite Oaks Hospice House; a memorial service is scheduled for 11:00 a.m. Nov 6 at First Methodist Church in Sartell—visitation begins one hour before service— with burial to follow in North Star Cemetery in St. Cloud. ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ On Thursday morning, the St. Cloud Fire Department responded to a fire at an apartment complex on the 1700 block of University Drive Southeast, quickly controlling flames in a third-story unit's kitchen while safely evacuating all tenants— the affected unit has been deemed uninhabitable and residents have been moved to temporary housing as the Office of the Fire Marshal investigates the cause. - ➤ The Stearns History Museum will open its new Get the Message Vintage Sign Exhibit on Friday, November 7 to showcase restored vintage advertising artifacts including the neon Eiffel Tower from Frenchy’s Dinner Club, with interactive displays on how large signs were made. The exhibit will run through 2027—county residents enjoy free admission while non-residents pay $7 for adults and $3 for kids. KNSI
