COMMUNITY NEWS

  • The annual Zonta Christmas House—St. Cloud’s biggest fundraiser—will take place at 1408 Antler Creek Court in Sartell on Nov 21 and 22 and will feature festive decor by local businesses along with a Winter Marketplace of over a dozen vendors to support charities for women and girls.  St. Cloud Times
  • Santa Paws is back at Tri-County Humane Society where families can take holiday photos with their pets at the east end thrift store. Photo sessions cost $55 and run today and Friday from 12:00 to 7:00 p.m. and Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.—the fundraiser helps cover emergency care and supports the upcoming Give To The Max Day campaign on November 20.  KNSI
  • Kids Fighting Hunger is hosting a food packaging event at the River's Edge Convention Center on Nov. 16 and is seeking volunteers for two shifts + one from 9 a.m. to 10:15 a.m. and one from 11 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. + The event will package over 150,000 meals for local food shelves.  St. Cloud Times
  • The Stearns History Museum will host the fourth FixIT Clinic at the Sherburne History Center in Becker this Friday from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.—volunteers will mend up to two items per household for free until 6:30 p.m. in partnership with Reuse Minnesota and with funding from the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency.  WJON

CULTURE NEWS

  • St. Cloud has invited local artists to design vinyl wraps for utility boxes downtown—this project aims to brighten public spaces and deter graffiti. Artists from Stearns, Benton and Sherburne Counties will receive $500 for each selected design and must submit their work by November 25.  WJON

EDUCATION NEWS

  • The Sartell-St. Stephen High School Dance Showcase — now in its 23rd year — features 20 teams this Saturday, including a new team from the College of St. Benedict, performing in two shows at 11:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. to raise funds for uniforms, transportation, and coaching costs.  WJON

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Minnesota State Trooper Jesse Grabow urged drivers today to check their tires and carry a winter survival kit — including batteries, a flashlight, a snack, and a blanket — to prepare for icy roads. He warned drivers to reduce speed and keep extra distance if their vehicle slides or if they swerve to avoid deer.  WJON
  • Wilson Ave NE was closed between 3rd Street NE and 7th Street NE on November 12th for planned surface restorations — officials provided a detour for drivers.  City of St. Cloud
  • Today, McKinley Place N from W St. Germain St to 2nd St N is closed due to planned private utility work—no detour is posted and the closure is expected to last one day, weather permitting.  City of St. Cloud
  • A temporary construction project in Sartell is closing a block of 2 1/2 Street North between 4th and 5th Avenue near St. Francis Xavier, the school district office, and Oak Hill Cemetery. The road will reopen on Tuesday, November 18th, weather permitting—city officials advise drivers to plan ahead and follow the posted detour.  KNSI

SPORTS NEWS

  • Sartell-St. Stephen High School honored eight seniors who committed to play college sports in volleyball, basketball, swimming, softball, soccer, and baseball. The ceremony recognized their hard work as they prepared to face new challenges in college sports.  WJON
  • Cathedral High School held a signing ceremony Wednesday morning in St. Cloud where student-athletes signed letters of intent with colleges. Track star Lily Jamison will run at St. Cloud State + soccer player Natalie Lesnau will join Minnesota State-Moorhead while others signed with colleges like North Dakota State and Winona State.  WJON
