COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Atonement Lutheran Church will host a Homeless Summit next Tuesday from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.—local charities and community leaders will meet to discuss urgent winter needs and long-term solutions for housing in St. Cloud.  WJON
  • The St. Cloud Area Family YMCA will host its 15th annual Wishbone 5K on Thanksgiving morning with several race options as the LJ Plumbing Little Turkeys 1K begins at 8:00 a.m. and the 5K plus two-mile race starts at 8:15 a.m.—participants will receive beanie hats while supplies last, and sponsors include CentraCare M Physicians Orthopedics, Scheels, and LJ Plumbing and Heating.  KNSI
  • The Royalton Royals raised over $150,000 through community donations—showing strong local support—to upgrade their football and track facility in honor of late coach Nick Lanners. The team finished 5th in the T-Mobile Friday Night 5G Lights contest—garnering over 330,000 votes—and will use the funds for new bleachers, a modern scoreboard and track improvements.  WJON

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Towmaster in Litchfield is preparing to assemble snow plows that require nearly 300 hours of skilled labor and use 90% American-made parts—most units are valued at $300,000 to $500,000. The company is recruiting skilled workers as winter nears.  WJON
  • Qwik Pack & Ship is a new business in St. Cloud offering mailing, shipping, and printing services at 20 15th Avenue South. The store partners with UPS, USPS and FedEx to provide one-stop shipping, passport and visa services, and document printing while operating Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.  WJON

EDUCATION NEWS

  • A new ranking by Research.com rated St. Cloud State University as the fourth-best post-secondary school in Minnesota and the second in affordability with tuition around $10,800 & a median graduate income of $46,700. The ranking also placed College of Saint Benedict/Saint John’s University at 20th while naming the top three as the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities, University of Minnesota Duluth, and Minnesota State University-Mankato.  KNSI

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • A new survey shows nearly 90% of Minnesota communities experienced climate change impacts such as severe storms, flooding, and poor air quality in the past year—many local governments reported that financial barriers hinder their efforts to address these issues. The survey, which included responses from 280 local and tribal governments, calls for more funding to support resilience projects.  WJON

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • MnDOT finished winter work on the I‑94 Gap Project between Wright County Road 37 in Albertville and Highway 25 in Monticello, returning the road to two lanes in each direction until spring. Next year, crews will shift traffic onto new westbound lanes—allowing expansion of the east lanes so the project can eventually provide three lanes in each direction.  KNSI
  • Metro Bus announced its 2025 holiday schedule for St. Cloud — the service will be closed on Thanksgiving Day November 27th, Christmas Day, and New Year’s Day while on Christmas Eve Fixed Route and Dial-a-Ride will end early at 5:00 p.m. with Dial-a-Ride stopping new trips at 4:30 p.m. This schedule means regular service will resume on the days in between for riders.  KNSI
  • The 900 block of 8th Ave N will be closed on November 17 for private utility work from 9th St N to 10th St N — no detour will be provided and the closure is expected to last one day if weather permits.  City of St. Cloud

SPORTS NEWS

  • Eden Valley-Watkins is set to face unbeaten Jackson County Central (11-0) in the Class AA state semifinals at U.S. Bank Stadium today at 9:00 a.m. Head coach Adam Tri said his team will adjust their play to tackle key challenges as strong community support is expected from Eden Valley and Watkins.  WJON
  • Over the weekend, the Granite City Lumberjacks extended their unbeaten record to 14-0 with wins in Mason City (9-4 on Friday and 6-4 on Saturday), while the St. Cloud Norsemen lost two close games in Minot and will host the Bismarck Bobcats at home during Military Appreciation Weekend with games on Friday at 7:00 p.m. Granite City will face the Minnesota Wilderness in a two-game series soon before taking on additional road opponents.  WJON
