COMMUNITY NEWS

  • On Saturday night, Dave Overlund and his wife saw a string of bright objects moving high above in Sartell—after talking with his brother, he learned they were likely Starlink satellites. He said the sighting left them startled but was still fascinating.  WJON
  • Last week, a parent with a two-year-old lost his wedding ring while unloading leaves at the Sartell compost site and neighbors joined him to search through a pile of leaves using a flashlight — ultimately, the ring was not found. He remains thankful for the help and kindness shown by those around him.  WJON
  • Bill Yueill, a beloved pastor and storyteller, died on November 15. A Celebration of Life for him will be held on November 23 at 1:00 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church in St. Cloud—Rev. Darren Seaman will officiate and visitation will start one hour before the service.  WJON
  • Malvin 'Mal' F. Patton, an 88-year-old lifelong Sartell resident, passed away peacefully on November 13 at Edenbrook; a memorial service to honor his legacy is scheduled for November 22 at 11:00 a.m. at Williams Dingmann Family Funeral Home in Sauk Rapids with burial to follow at Oak Hill Cemetery in Sartell.  WJON

  • Danique: Beauty & the Beans, which opened in downtown St. Cloud in August, sells handmade holiday goods—like Christmas-themed soaps—and Minnesota coffee supplies at 710 W. St. Germain St. The shop was founded by Monique Adhyatman and David Kridler and also features products from other local artisans.  St. Cloud Times
  • Starting in the new year, HOM Furniture will acquire Hennen Furniture in St. Cloud while keeping its name to honor decades of local service—promising more inventory and trusted customer support. The change will combine the strong reputation of a longtime community hub with the resources of a larger retailer.  WJON

CULTURE NEWS

  • Paramount Center for the Arts announced its 2026 Spring/Summer Season lineup that will feature a mix of music, comedy, theater, and family shows beginning in February and running through August—registration is now open for spring and summer visual arts classes as well as youth art camp starting March 2nd. The schedule includes tribute shows and performances by noted acts like Quiet Riot and Paula Poundstone.  KNSI

ECONOMY NEWS

  • Career Solutions — a St. Cloud workforce development agency — is offering free job training, resume, and interview assistance to laid-off workers to help them join growing fields such as healthcare and manufacturing. The agency recently helped 500 of the 800 Electrolux workers and uses grant funding so there is no cost to individuals.  WJON

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • St. Cloud is urging residents to use shovels at the first sign of snow instead of salt because Public Works said one teaspoon of salt can pollute five gallons of water+ The department explained that using a coffee mug’s worth of salt to treat a 20-foot-long driveway and storing it securely can help reduce runoff into local rivers and lakes.  KNSI

  • Iron Street Distillery on East St. Germain offers a fall menu with creative cocktails and mocktails along with live music events that draw local fans—staff experiments with new seasonal recipes and posts upcoming weekend schedules for live performances. The innovative approach to drink selection and event programming aims to provide a unique gathering spot for the community.  WJON

  • The St. Ben's volleyball team earned an automatic berth in the NCAA tournament—winning the MIAC Championship with a five set victory over St. Olaf. The team will play WashU in Oshkosh on November 20—aiming to reverse their previous loss.  WJON
