- ➤ The Jolly Trolley is making an extra stop this year to help restock local food shelves for the holidays by accepting cash or non-perishable foods. It will visit Lunds and Byerlys on December 15, Coborn’s on Cooper in St. Cloud on December 16, Cash Wise in Waite Park on December 17, and Coborn’s in downtown Sauk Rapids on December 18—running from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. each day. - ➤ St. Cloud is hosting a busy holiday weekend with a craft and gift show at River’s Edge Convention Center from Friday to Sunday, a Santa visit at Crossroads Center on Friday, a college football photo op at Miller Auto Plaza on Friday, and a free concert at Atwood Memorial Center on Saturday. Today at 6:00 p.m.—a free family dance party led by Kathy Kampa will take place at the Wirth Center for the Performing Arts. WJON

- ➤ Local bakeries are offering a mix of classic and unique pies—including salted maple custard and pumpkin—for Thanksgiving, with options available from shops in St. Cloud, Sauk Rapids, Cold Spring, St. Joseph, and Waite Park. - ➤ The Gear Daddies, a well-known Minnesota band, will celebrate 40 years with a performance at The Red Carpet in downtown St. Cloud on November 28—fans have limited tickets available as the band returns to its roots from 1984. WJON
- ➤ The docuseries My Town will stream a new episode this Sunday that highlights local stories from St. Joseph and Greater St. Cloud, hosted by three-time Emmy Award winner Cory Hepola — the series has already reached 2.1 million views from viewers in 44 states and 40 countries. Future episodes will feature other rural communities, continuing to showcase rich local narratives. WJON
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ ROCORI school district reached a tentative deal with paraprofessionals while working on new two-year contracts for teachers, principals, directors, and support staff—superintendent Kevin Enerson said mediation with teachers is scheduled for December. The existing contract remains in force until new agreements are finalized for the 2025 through 2027 school years. WJON
- ➤ St. Cloud State University named Gregory Tomso as its next president effective January 5 after a nationwide search by the Board of Trustees of the Minnesota State Colleges and Universities. Tomso brings over 20 years of higher education experience—most recently as vice president at the University of West Florida—and will lead the university in a strategic plan to right-size its campus. - ➤ Gregory Tomso will become president of St. Cloud State University on January 5th by taking over from interim president Larry Dietz after serving at the University of West Florida where he supported nearly 15,000 students+1,900 employees, a move expected to boost the university's growth. WJON
- ➤ St. Cloud Technical and Community College was named to Military Times’ Best for Vets College 2025 list, making it one of six Minnesota schools recognized among 357 institutions. The college offers strong support to veterans and their families — it is also recognized as a Yellow Ribbon Company. WJON
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The Minnesota DNR approved automatic hook-setting devices for ice fishing this winter after a long review that included public input. Anglers must stay within 200 feet of a device and the hook-setting part cannot be motorized—devices act like tip-ups and cannot retrieve line automatically. KNSI
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Today, Winter Hazard Awareness Week focuses on indoor air quality as local officials warn that invisible carbon monoxide from burning fossil fuels can build dangerously in sealed homes. Fire Marshal Brian Kiffmeyer advises residents to install and regularly check CO alarms—if an alarm sounds, evacuate immediately and call the fire department. KNSI
