COMMUNITY NEWS

  • B and J Evergreen Tree Farm in Clear Lake will have a juvenile, nameless camel for visitors this season instead of the regular camels, Cliff and Carl, who will return in 2026. Visitors are asked to help name the new camel.  WJON
  • St. Cloud mourns John Waseka, a local businessman and sports legend who ran the Copper Lantern for over 40 years. A celebration of his life is set — at Jack and Jim’s Food and Liquor in Duelm on November 26th from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. — and his daughter Madison continues his legacy.  KNSI
  • Most grocery stores in the area will have limited hours on Thanksgiving as major chains like Target, Aldi and Walmart remain closed. However, Cash Wise and Coborn's will operate from 6 a.m.—5 p.m. and Fresh Thyme Market from 7 a.m.—2 p.m. while some local shops offer pre-made meals and early Black Friday deals.  St. Cloud Times
  • Today, Give to the Max Day has raised tens of millions for nonprofits—donations come in every 15 minutes with a $10,000 golden ticket set for midnight. Dozens of St. Cloud organizations are joining to support animal rescue, the environment, and hunger relief among over 4,800 groups statewide.  KNSI
  • The Stearns County Parks Department will host the 2026 Moonlight Ski event on January 9th from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Quarry Park—participants will enjoy four miles of lit trails with bonfires, treats, raffle prizes and free ski rentals if conditions allow.  KNSI

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Kayla Adams and Laura Wolfram opened Korppi Coffee in 2021 — a café offering a locally sourced menu and a welcoming atmosphere for neighborhood customers. The café uses ingredients like Avon Hills Folk School maple syrup and Lutsen-based Fika Coffee to create its handmade beverages and treats.  St. Cloud Times

EDUCATION NEWS

  • At a special meeting on Monday at 4:00 p.m., the school board will accept a bid from Legacy Building Solutions LLC for $3,532,204 to complete exterior work on the new Multipurpose Athletic Facility near Apollo High School—only one of the 10 contractors submitted a bid. A second bid for interior work will be requested later, and the project is funded through bonds from a November 2024 special property tax.  KNSI

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • During Winter Hazard Awareness Week, National Weather Service meteorologist Todd Krause warned drivers to check their tires and allow extra stopping distance as roads become icy, especially in rural areas. He also advised carrying an emergency kit (with a flashlight and food) to stay safe if help is delayed.  KNSI

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Metro Bus announced that all Dial-a-Ride and Fixed Route services will be closed on Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year’s Day—rides will end early on Christmas Eve with Dial-a-Ride stopping at 4:30 p.m. and buses off by 5:00 p.m., while normal service resumes on Black Friday and New Year’s Eve.  WJON

HEALTH NEWS

  • State officials said that despite the recall, ByHeart baby formula was still found on store shelves in Minnesota and other states after tests found Clostridium botulinum contamination that led to over 31 infant hospitalizations. Minnesota investigators checked 119 sites from November 13 to 17 and urged consumers to stop using any affected product — a measure meant to help prevent further illness.  KNSI

REAL ESTATE NEWS

  • Renovation of the historic building at 706-708 West St. Germain in downtown St. Cloud will begin soon using a Downtown Revitalization Grant from the St. Cloud EDA—this former site of Paddy's Game Shoppe will soon become home to Fluid Interiors, Commercial Real Estate, and BCI Construction. It is a key project that will revitalize a well-known downtown space.  WJON

SPORTS NEWS

  • St. Benedicts volleyball team ended their season today in Oshkosh when they lost 25-16, 25-22, and 25-20 to WashU in straight sets, with Kali Jones recording nine kills. The team finished with a 21-7 record after advancing through the MIAC tournament with wins over Augsburg, Gustavus, and St. Olaf (the loss in the NCAA tournament marks the end of their season).  WJON
