- ➤ Marshall is a three-legged three-month-old puppy from Tri-County Humane Society in St. Cloud who is ready for a loving home and already adapting well after having his front right leg amputated due to a birth defect. The pup weighs just over 22 pounds now and is expected to reach 40 to 50 pounds; he is neutered and chipped (adoption holds are available by calling 320-252-0896). WJON
- ➤ Cold Spring will host Santa Day on December 6 from 10:00 a.m. to Noon at the Country Store parking lot with a gingerbread house contest, Polar Express train rides, snowman bowling and a petting zoo that may be canceled if temperatures drop too low. Local business Bike Guys will donate over 300 bikes to kids—participation is free and the event continues rain or shine. WJON
- ➤ Single mom Nikki Bettis and her seven youngest children completed a 2,350-mile Mississippi River canoe journey from Lake Bemidji to the Gulf, finishing on November 19th. They passed through St. Cloud in early September and faced fast boats and wind—challenges that turned the trip into an inspiring family adventure. KNSI
- ➤ Zeke Berg and his family run Fresh Acres Farm in Monticello where they raise about 30 heritage turkeys using organic practices for Thanksgiving dinners. The farm uses guard dogs and hosts a fall festival with a corn maze and pumpkin patch to teach locals about farming. St. Cloud Times

- ➤ Metz & Co.—a new vintage store—will open Friday at 10:00 a.m. in a historic 1875 building on West St. Germain Street and 7th Avenue downtown; it will feature 15 vendors on the main level with plans to add 20 more on the upper floor for holiday shoppers. WJON

- ➤ Sartell’s compost site will remain open until Sunday—staff will plow main roads before the site, which could make access difficult during the winter storm warning, according to Engagement Director Nikki Sweeter. KNSI
- ➤ Metro Bus will use a $14 million federal grant + replace its 23 aging CNG buses in the coming year to improve clean transportation for the community. WJON
- ➤ The St. Cloud Economic Development Authority will meet on December 2nd at City Hall’s board room at 4:00 p.m. to host three presentations on real estate trends and downtown planning. Assessor A Thor will discuss property values + Community Development Director Matt Glaesman will outline the 2025 Comprehensive Plan. KNSI
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ St. Cloud’s Dr. Ted Truitt explained on WJON that neck lumps often come from natural swelling during infections like colds—lumps near the voice box that persist about a month should be evaluated by a medical provider. WJON
- ➤ A new flu strain called H3N2 subclade K has been found in Minnesota and Wisconsin and is expected to cause common symptoms such as fever, chills, body aches and headaches over a five- to seven-day period. Health experts advise people to rest—drink water and avoid public places to help slow the spread. WJON
SPORTS NEWS
- ➤ St. John's will host 23rd-ranked Monmouth this Saturday at noon in Collegeville in the NCAA Division III playoffs—St. John's, 9-1 with a six-game win streak, will face Monmouth, which allows only 6 points per game, and the winner will play UW-River Falls/Chapman on December 6. WJON
- ➤ St. Cloud State women’s soccer team earned its first Sweet 16 berth after a 2-1 overtime win against Central Missouri on Nov. 23— they will host #4 seed Washburn on Sunday at 1:00 p.m. at The College of St. Benedict as the NCAA Division II tournament continues. WJON
- ➤ Braya LaPlant, a sophomore setter for SCSU volleyball, was named Division II National Player of the Week by the American Volleyball Coaches Association after she led her team to the NSIC Championship with high assist averages — she tallied 70 assists in one match against a top-ranked opponent. The Huskies, with a 26-6 record, will play Missouri Western in the NCAA Tournament on December 4. WJON
