COMMUNITY NEWS

  • A squadron of F-22 Raptor fighter jets will thrill crowds at the first North Star Air Show next summer — on Aug. 1 and 2 — at St. Cloud Sky Central Airport. Airport Authority Board Chair Brian Myres said the event is designed to boost local tourism and industry.  KNSI
  • Patricia 'Pat' A. Walker, 92, passed away Monday at Woodcrest in St. Joseph, and her family will hold a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Augustine’s Catholic Church on Friday, Dec. 12 at 11:00 a.m. Visitation is scheduled at Williams Dingmann Family Funeral Home in Sauk Rapids.  WJON
  • Bobbi, a 56-pound mixed breed with a wagging tail, is ready for adoption at Tri-County Humane Society in St. Cloud this holiday season after a generous donor covered his fees. Interested families may call 320-252-0896 or visit the shelter during office hours.  WJON

CULTURE NEWS

  • The St. Cloud Symphony Orchestra will perform holiday classics in two concerts at the Ritsche Auditorium at St. Cloud State this Sunday. The Children's Holiday Concert is at 1:00 p.m. with free youth admission and Festival of Frolic and Reflection at 3:30 p.m. charges set prices for adults and seniors.  WJON
  • Local historian Jim Grabinski recounted the history of St. Cloud motels including the Thrifty Scot and Gateway properties that first offered cable TV (a local first) and later became repurposed sites. His two-part series covers properties from the 1940s to 2016 that have shaped local hospitality.  WJON
  • Rod Stewart will perform at the Minnesota State Fair grandstand on Tuesday, Sept. 1 (featuring Richard Marx) while tickets go on sale Friday, Dec. 12 at 10 a.m. Prices range from $86 to $147.25 for reserved seating.  WJON

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Minnesota DNR cautioned ice fishermen as early winter snows may slow ice formation and mask thin ice, urging them to use safety gear. Lisa Dugan advises local anglers to check with local experts before venturing farther from shore.  KNSI

REAL ESTATE NEWS

  • Data from Realtor.com shows that in September, Stearns County median home prices dropped to $286,000 from August’s $289,876, a 1.3% decline (with single-family prices falling 1.5% and condo prices rising) while total sales reached $59.2 million.  St. Cloud Times

SPORTS NEWS

  • Blake Elliott, the record holder for receiving and returning at Johnnies, was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame at the National Football Foundation Awards Dinner in Las Vegas Tuesday. He overcame a 1999 back injury and founded BRIDGES MN (helping foster care for adults with needs).  KNSI
