COMMUNITY NEWS

  • St. Cloud ZBA approved a daycare — a turnaround after a failed property deal — at Midtown Square Mall for Mothers Love Childcare Center. The facility will serve 91 children with a new fenced play area and is set to open in spring 2026.  KNSI
  • St. Cloud V.A. exceeded its 2025 housing goal by finding permanent homes for 66 veterans this year — surpassing the target of 58 with strong support from local partners. Veterans needing help can call the National Call Center for homelessness.  WJON
  • Central Minnesota Habitat for Humanity said the upcoming Minnesota Housing Tax Credit Program will open in late January or early February and let residents earn an 85 percent tax credit on donations of at least $1,000 — the funds will help three projects in Sartell, St. Cloud and Elk River.  WJON
  • The Jolly Trolley Food Drive raised 8,872 pounds of food (and $1,829 in cash) at Coborn's on Cooper Avenue on Tuesday and held its event at Cash Wise in Waite Park on Wednesday, and it will deliver donations to local charities on Friday.  WJON
  • This weekend, St. Cloud is celebrating the holidays with events for all ages; join a Jane Austen birthday party at Books Revisited (10 a.m. to 5 p.m.) or enjoy a festive concert at St. Mary’s Cathedral Saturday at 7:30 p.m.  WJON
  • A memorial service honoring Donald P. Honer will be held Monday, Dec. 22 at 10:30 a.m. at Waters Church in Sartell. He passed away on Dec. 14 at his home and will be laid to rest at St. Joseph Parish Cemetery.  WJON

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • A St. Cloud family was temporarily displaced after a fire Tuesday morning on the 200 block of 28th Avenue North—crews arrived around 10:20 a.m. and quickly contained flames on the second floor with no injuries while the cause remains under investigation.  KNSI

BUSINESS NEWS

  • New eateries opened this year in the area and offer diverse menus (including Asian, coffee, and Tex-Mex dishes) to give residents more local dining options.  St. Cloud Times

CULTURE NEWS

  • Stearns History Museum will release Images of America: St. Cloud in May—a 115-page book with 10 chapters of historic photos that share local stories, with all proceeds benefiting the museum. A Breakfast Club event in February will explain the book's creation.  WJON

ECONOMY NEWS

  • State workers will see a 2.5% minimum wage increase on January 1 with wages rising from $11.13 to $11.41 an hour statewide. In Minneapolis and St. Paul, most employees will receive higher rates on July 1 and new hires under 20 will start at $9.31 for 90 days.  KNSI

SPORTS NEWS

  • Cathedral boys hockey beat Cloquet-Esko-Carleton 2-1 on Tuesday, Dec. 16, with Talen Ruprecht scoring the game winner (just over a minute left). They will face Orono at home on Friday.  WJON
