  • McDonald’s opened on Division Street in March 1970 at the site of Eddy’s Drive-In (the third in Minnesota) with a grand opening featuring free gifts for children, music by the Cathedral drum and band, and Mayor Ed Henry attending. A McDonald’s still stands at the site today.  WJON

HEALTH NEWS

  • Flu season is leading to more emergency room visits across Minnesota, with 2,000 cases reported mostly for children (under 4) and older adults (65+). Health officials advise residents in St. Cloud to take extra precautions and seek care early if symptoms develop.  WJON

  • The Sartell-St. Stephen Sabres girls’ basketball team rallied to a 72-51 win over Princeton on Dec. 23, with Kennedy Lewis scoring 25 & Kate Thompson adding 16. Boys basketball & hockey teams from local high schools also secured wins in separate matchups.  WJON
