- ➤ Schmidty's Soda Shop from Alexandria will open its second location in St. Cloud at Crossroads Center Mall near Target in January, following permitting and renovations. The shop offers signature soda drinks with a surfer, beachy vibe (welcoming to families and college students) at affordable prices. St. Cloud Times
- ➤ Local grocery stores will offer adjusted hours for New Year's Eve and Day; Coborn's and Target remain open as usual while Aldi, Sam's Club and Costco have shorter hours (Aldi closes early on New Year's Eve and is closed on New Year's Day). St. Cloud Times
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The city announced that garbage and blue recycling routes set for New Year's Day will be picked up on Monday, Jan. 5. All other pickup schedules remain unchanged. City of St. Cloud

- ➤ Local high school sports took place on Saturday, Dec. 27, as boys' basketball wins included St. Cloud Tech (73 to 65) over Anoka and Princeton (95 to 81) over St. Cloud Apollo, and girls' hockey saw Grand Rapids-Greenway (5 to 0) win; several contests are scheduled for Monday. WJON
